O elenco da Inglaterra, que nesta quarta-feira enfrenta a Croácia pela semifinal da Copa do Mundo 2018, em Moscou, é um dos mais rodados da competição.
Em coletiva recente, o próprio técnico Gareth Southgate se mostrou espantado com a quantidade de clubes que seus atletas já passaram na carreira.
"Barnsley, Leeds, Bolton, Blackburn... Somos caras que vieram desses lugares", afirmou o treinador, citando alguns dos ex-times de seus comandados, que hoje em sua maioria atuam em grandes da Premier League.
Alguns dos casos mais emblemáticos são os dos atacantes Harry Kane, que rodou emprestado por vários clubes antes de se firmar no Tottenham, e Jamie Vardy, que atuou até mesmo na 8ª divisão antes de explodir no Leicester City.
Já o goleiro Jordan Pickford, um dos maiores destaques do English Team neste Mundial, ostenta em seu currículo passagens por oito times diferentes em seus 24 anos de vida.
Por outro lado, os únicos atletas que só defenderam uma equipe até hoje são os jovens Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) e Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool). Todos os otros estiveram pelo menos em duas agremiações.
