Jon Jones parece bastante interessado em uma luta contra Alex Poatan no peso pesado. Depois de perguntar aos fãs se eles preferiam uma luta contra o brasileiro ou Tom Aspinall na noite de quinta-feira (3), o dono do cinturão do UFC voltou a falar de uma possível luta com Alex.
"Se Alex Pereira virar o campeão dos pesados, vocês vão considerá-lo o GOAT (melhor de todos os tempos)? Voltar a treinar realmente me fez pensar diferente. Depois de Miocic, essa luta talvez seja o maior movimento que posso fazer. Esse matador já derrubou tantos campeões e já é considerado uma lenda por milhões ao redor do mundo. A maior luta que o UFC poderia fazer. Dar uma chance pra Alex vingar todos os grandes campeões brasileiros que derrotei", disse Jon Jones no X (antigo Twitter).
"Seria absolutamente gigante. Um cara com a chance de ser campeão de três divisões e virar o GOAT contra o verdadeiro GOAT. Mesma idade, diferentes virtudes. Ninguém pode argumentar que não seria a maior luta da história do MMA. Nenhuma outra luta geraria tanto dinheiro. Seria insano", prosseguiu.
Na sequência, Bones completou dizendo que Aspinall é alguém "que só os fãs britânicos querem ver", enquanto Poatan é alguém "mundialmente famoso".
"Vocês realmente acham que eu lutar com Tom seria maior que eu e Alex frente a frente? Tom só importa no Reino Unido. Alex é uma das pessoas mais polarizantes da história do esporte. Estou pensando em doláres, legado, a coisa maior aqui, não o que os britânicos querem ver", finalizou.
