Endurance

Men's endurance

Men's Endurance: Sixteen men will compete in this event in a bracketed head-to-head format. In each bracket both competitors will complete three different chopping/sawing exercises in succession, with the competitor in each bracket completing all three exercises in the shortest amount of time winning the bracket. Each bracket will begin with the competitor's axes on the wood and at the call of "go" both competitors will begin the Underhand Chop exercise, severing a 12" block of wood which is mounted horizontally, using only underhand blows to the log. At the point at which the block is completely severed the competitor will then move on to the Standing Block chop, severing a 12" block of wood mounted vertically in a stand. Once the Standing Block has been severed, the competitor moves on to the final exercise, the Single Buck. The competitor will cut a full disk from a 20" diameter log, using only a single buck saw. Once the full disk has been cut, time will be called for that competitor.

Women's Endurance: Eight women will compete in this event in bracketed head-to-head format. In each bracket both competitors will compete in three different exercises in succession. Each bracket will begin with the Stock Saw exercise where they make two cuts from a 16" diameter of Pine with a stock Stihl chainsaw, then move stations to chop a 10" block of wood which is mounted horizontally in a stand, using only underhand blows to the log. At the point at which the underhand block is completely severed the competitor moves on to the Single Buck exercise and will cut a full disc from a 16" diameter log, using only a single buck saw. The competitor to complete all three exercises in the fastest overall time wins the bracket.
