The Launch

New for 2005, this discipline is an offshoot of Big Air with the dogs jumping for height as well as distance. An apparatus, known as the Extender, is mounted above the water and holds a canvas dummy at a pre-determined height and distance from the end of the dock.

In Round One, 12 dogs will each be allowed two attempts to seize the dummy from the Extender. Each dog to successfully seize the dummy will advance to Round Two, where the height and distance of the Extender will be increased. Each dog in Round Two will be allowed two attempts to seize the dummy from the Extender and will advance to Round Three if they are successful. The height and distance of the Extender will be increased once again in Round Three.

Each dog will be allowed two attempts to seize the dummy from the Extender in Round Three. If more than one dog is successful in seizing the dummy in Round Three the Extender will be moved again and each successful dog will have one final attempt to seize the dummy.
