Hot Zone

disc drive

Hot Zone is a timed single disc event, with speed and accuracy being critical for both dog and handler. The objective of the competition is to be the fastest team in each round to successfully make a catch in each of the six zones within the field of play in ascending order, with a time limit of three minutes to complete all six catches.

There are two "catches" (pun intended) to the game: 1) the dog must be in the air for the catch to count, and 2) any paw in the Hot Zone (Zone 6) during a catch for Zones 1 – 5 will send the team back to Zone 1 to start all over again. A dozen dogs will each complete the Zones in Round One, with the 8 fastest dogs advancing to Round Two. The four fastest dogs will advance to the Final Round, with the fastest dog in the Final Round being declared champion.
