Notable
Jerry lost both of his parents in a commercial plane crash in 2000. He has one brother and feels lucky to have family to help handle it. He says that it's always hard to talk about his parents, but he says that it gets more bearable with each year. He says that it's also really hard knowing they won't know his children. Jerry has already gotten two of his three children involved in archery. His 4-year-old daugher, Alison, has a compound bow. His son, JR, has a recurve. He runs a youth program at his archery shop.
Quotable
"Crowds and cameras aren't an issue, but at the Tennessee qualifier, I heard my kids and it threw me. Last year I had Ulmer beat. Ulmer even said that I had him. But I saw myself on the jumbotron and it threw me. I got nervous." Going into this year Jerry is watching relaxation tapes and says,"I get into a blank state of mind."
