PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Georgia Tech's Alvin Jones came up big in two wins. The center scored 26 points (8-of-11 field goals), grabbed 14 boards and blocked four shots Saturday in a win over Florida State.
Earlier in the week, he had 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists against Clemson. That's why he's my Player of the Week.
SHOCK OF THE WEEK
Louisville stunned Cincinnati on the Bearcats' home court, 63-54. That snapped Cincinnati's streak of 34 straight home league wins. The Cardinals scored the shocker just 11 days after losing by 20 points to the Bearcats at Freedom Hall.
DIAPER DANDY OF THE WEEK
Jake Sullivan of Iowa State has been a dangerous shooter for Larry Eustachy's club. Overshadowed by Jamaal Tinsley and Kantrail Horton, Sullivan had 19 points, including four trifectas, in a win over Baylor.
CO-COACH OF THE WEEK
Denny Crum has been feeling some pressure. His team was 6-12 entering the week. The Cardinals went out and beat Cincinnati and DePaul.
Central Michigan has been a surprise in the MAC. Jay Smith's team won six games all of last season. Now the Chippewas are a contender in the league, thanks to wins at Toledo and over Marshall last week.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Behind Troy Murphy and Ryan Humphrey, Notre Dame came through with two big wins in conference play, beating both Syracuse and Georgetown, two ranked teams. Mike Brey's Fighting Irish are starting to come on -- watch out for Notre Dame in the coming weeks.
